Who defeated Zeus?
Giants, called GEGENEIS [jee'je-nays and gay'ge-nays], since they were “born from the Earth,” challenged Zeus and the new order of the gods. They were defeated in a fierce battle and were imprisoned under the earth.
Powers and abilities
In most stories, Zeus is one of or the most powerful Olympian god. He has vast supernatural powers with a focus on weather control, but can accomplish nearly anything including shapeshifting, resurrecting the dead, and creating new life.
It should come as no surprise that, in a one-on-one battle of Zeus vs Thor, Zeus would easily triumph.

DC's Zeus is far more powerful and stronger than Marvel's Zeus, at least that's how he's portrayed. Although very powerful, the Skyfather's in Marvel are not the top, or near the top of the food chain as they are in DC. The top in Marvel are the cosmic beings, not counting TOAA/TOBA.

While Superman would likely still give a good fight, it's unlikely he'd be able to defeat a god. Since Zeus has all of the Olympian Gods under his control, finding kryptonite wouldn't be difficult.

Can Zeus lift Mjolnir?
Unlike the others, Zeus is not worthy to lift Mjolnir, but through a loophole, he can anyway. If Mjolnir is to enter his domain, Zeus's MCU powers should override Odin's enchantment, meaning he can hold Mjolnir.
As such, Zeus decides to grant the Hulk's request to beat him to death in hand-to-hand combat. The Hulk's first blow sends Zeus crashing into a nearby building. Zeus then returns this with an even more powerful blow. The ruler of the Olympians than overpowers the Hulk, and ultimately knocks him off Mount Olympus.

Thor is powerful but he's rarely faced a foe as powerful as the Reverse Flash, one who can hit him a million times before Thor could blink. With powers like his, the Reverse Flash has what it takes to beat Thor.

In Justice League when Superman is resurrected, he is easily able to defeat Steppenwolf by himself. In the flashback during Steppenwolf's first invasion, it takes an army of Old Gods, Amazons, Atlantians, men, and even some Green Lanterns to defeat him.

Mera has notably beaten Aquaman with her aquakinetic powers and even once exiled him from Atlantis when she took control of the throne. Aquaman and Mera usually make things up to one another, but it does go to show that, more than anyone else, Mera is the best at beating Aquaman.
Odin has pretty clearly been shown to be demonstrable more powerful than the other gods. Odin's Odinforce has far outstripped anything Zeus's magical lightning bolts have ever done.
There have been several versions of Hyperion over the years, but the most formidable is the one who joined the Avengers and helped them battle against threats like Thanos and the Beyonders. That Hyperion would be able to defeat Darkseid.
During the massive fight, Orion ultimately kills him by ripping his heart out, which created a firepit of Apokolips from Darkseid's chest cavity (in reference to the prophecy of their final battle).

Although he has been sent back to the underworld time and time again, Ares is never truly killed and can ultimately never be defeated. Thanos may be quicker than the Greek God, but he is in no way as powerful.
Odin in the MCU's universe is stronger than Thanos. He defeated, or could defeat, many, many enemies who could possibly defeat Thanos. Like Surtur. Pre-Awakened Thor was weaker than Odin.

How did Zeus get killed?
Kratos fought Zeus furiously and managed to deliver several powerful blows, as he stated he would kill Zeus for his actions. Enraged at his defiance, Zeus unleashed his full might on the vengeful warrior in the form of a deadly electrical storm. Kratos stabs Zeus with the Blade of Olympus.
Poseidon was a part of Hera's rebellion and he did so to become king. He argued with the other gods over Zeus' place, and was defeated by Zeus when Briares freed him.
